

I. Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders
Citizens of the following countries holding valid ordinary passports may enter China visa-free for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges or transit for a maximum stay of 30 days. The length of stay shall be calculated from 00:00 on the day following the date of entry.

Notes:
1. Foreigners coming to China to participate in sports events, exhibitions, study tours (summer/winter camps) with a stay not exceeding 30 days are covered by the visa exemption, provided they hold valid ordinary passports.
2. Foreigners whose purposes of coming to China conform to the provisions of the visa exemption policy (business, tourism, family visits, exchanges or transit) may enter China upon inspection and approval by the Chinese border inspection authorities. It is recommended to bring supporting documents such as invitation letters, air tickets and hotel reservations consistent with the purpose of visit. Foreigners coming to China for work, study, news coverage and other activities are not covered by the visa exemption.
3. The unilateral visa exemption applies to all open sea, land and air ports for foreigners (unless otherwise stipulated by laws, regulations or bilateral arrangements). Those entering China by self-provided transport means shall go through the entry and exit formalities for self-provided transport means in accordance with the relevant Chinese laws and regulations.
II. 240-Hour Transit Visa Exemption
At present, China has implemented the 240-hour transit visa exemption policy for citizens of 55 countries including the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom. Travelers from relevant countries holding valid international travel documents and confirmed onward tickets with fixed dates and itineraries may enter China visa-free via any of the 65 open ports in 24 provinces, and stay in the specified areas for no more than 10 days. During the stay, activities such as tourism, business, visits and family visits are allowed; activities requiring prior approval such as work, study and news coverage shall still go through visa formalities in advance.
